The District 6 Toastmasters Speakers Bureau provides an opportunity for Toastmasters to speak outside of their club setting. Not only will members gain more public speaking experience, they'll be representing the Toastmasters organization. The Speakers Bureau serves as a liaison between community groups who are interested in having a speaker and Toastmasters who volunteer to speak outside their club.
Also of interest to speakers is an Information Session Tuesday evening September 11, 2007 from the Institute for Professional Speaker Development. The purpose of the District 6 Toastmasters Speakers Bureau is:
If you are looking for a speaker for an event, visit the Speakers Bureau Request page. All Toastmasters who are members of the Speakers Bureau must meet these criteria:
In addition, members must agree to NOT sell or present their own personal product or service. For example,
if a member owns a lawn service, he/she cannot give a presentation about their service to convince others to
purchase it. However, the fact that the speaker has such a business can be shared in their introduction. (
As a member of the Speakers Bureau, you will be representing Toastmasters, not your personal business.) Since
the Speakers Bureau is a public relations tool designed to increase Toastmasters membership, each speaker should
explain that he/she is representing Toastmasters and give a brief description of Toastmasters. Speakers
will be given Toastmasters brochures prior to their presentation, to hand out as appropriate. Questions? Send an email to the speakers@d6tm.og.
