In the 2005-2006 Toastmasters year, I had the opportunity to be a new club sponsor as well as a new club mentor. Both were rewarding experiences. I found the experiences not only exciting for me, personally, but also for the new members. It was especially rewarding to be part of a new venue in the community where for others can learn and practice their communication skills. Additionally, it was satisfying to teach them from my experiences. Serving as a mentor to a new Toastmasters club has been enormously rewarding. It is such a joy to share what I've learned through Toastmasters with others who are just starting out on that journey, and to see how quickly they become proficient, confident, and enthusiastic about giving speeches and about taking on the various roles at each meeting. It's a relatively small investment of time and effort on my part, but it has such a great impact-on me as well as on the members of the club I am mentoring.
