Fall Conference 2009 -Business Meeting

Link to Club Proxy Form for Voting

A message from our 2009-2010 Credentials Chair, Mary Swanson

My Fellow Toastmasters, we hope to see you all at our upcoming District 6 Fall Conference.

It is your privilege and right to be a part of the business conducted in District 6 and we want your vote to be counted and your voice to be heard. Our goal is that each club be represented by the 2 votes to which they are entitled.

Let’s take minute to review some of the District standing rules of the voting procedure.

  • Each club, in good standing, of District 6 is entitled to 2 votes at the business meeting. The President and Educational Vice President carry these votes.
  • These officers will visit the Credentials Desk and sign for their vote.
    • If neither of these officers can attend, they can proxy their vote to another member of the club. That proxy form is found in the District 6 Digest. Please bring that completed and signed proxy to the Credentials Desk.
    • If only one of these officers can attend, they carry the vote of the absent officer. They do not need a proxy to as long as they are one of the qualified voting officers
  • Club members are limited to 2 votes even though they might represent more than one club. They will receive 1 voting ballot.
    • A green ballot represents 1 vote
    • A yellow ballot represents 2 votes
  • Additionally, District officers carry a vote. These officers are limited to 3 votes, representing their 2 club votes and their district position.
  • Hours of operations for the Credentials Desk are announced at each function throughout the convention. You are encouraged to visit the desk as soon as you can to avoid the last minute rush.
  • Just prior to the business meeting on Saturday afternoon, a credentials report is calculated and a determination is made whether or not we have a quorum to conduct business.

As you can see, your vote is wanted and needed to conduct business in District 6.

SEE YOU IN OCTOBER!
