Build it and they will come! This statement couldn’t be truer than when we use it to describe strong, vibrant Toastmasters clubs. We have so many wonderful opportunities to use the skills that we learn and practice in Toastmasters to start, mentor and rescue clubs in our district.
Toastmasters has many programs and tools available for building strong clubs. Please consider getting involved in our Club Coach, Club Sponsor and Club Mentor programs. Even if you don’t participate in these formal programs, you still can help. You may be thinking, “What can I do?” It’s simple . . . share your Toastmasters story.
If your story is like mine, it probably involves some element of a life changing experience. Toastmasters does change lives. By sharing your story, you can bring new people to your clubs, encourage an existing member to step up their involvement or inspire someone to consider bringing Toastmasters into their company or organization.
The ultimate Table Topics question is “What is Toastmasters?” Be ready with your 2 minute response. It was one of these “elevator speeches” that pushed me to investigate Toastmasters. Little did I know at the time that this person’s story would change my life. Your story has the same potential, but only if you tell it.
I look forward to working with all of you as we Dream . . . Imagine . . . and Transform our way through this Toastmasters year. Be ready to tell your story in the elevator, in newsletters, on websites, and in meetings. Together we can build strong, vibrant clubs in District 6.
