District 6 Toastmasters at the Twins 2010

It was the perfect summer day - sunny and warm with an occasional light breeze. Perfect for outdoor baseball!

On Sunday, July 18th, a contingency of Toastmasters and their families - some 275 strong - donned orange and gathered at Target Field to enjoy an outdoor baseball game between the Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox. And what a game it was!

Why orange? So that we would stand out in the crowd and wear Toastmasters proudly! Amy Ekberg won the t-shirt design contest. Many people, in fact, inquired about the sea of orange and about Toastmasters. "Several people approached us to ask what the orange was all about so we got to share the Toastmasters message with them," said Julie Bane. Sharon Rollefson reported that she was asked about Toastmasters on the light rail ride home. There were even inquiries from fans on the other side of the ballpark about the orange clad group!

We had a lot of good fortune that day. Most importantly - the Twins first walk-off win at Target Field! Those who left early missed all the excitement! And we were responsible for posting the K's for each Twins strikeout - well done Dave Deutsch and Sue Tinklenberg!

It was truly a great day, with great friends!
