The Mission of Toastmasters International
Toastmasters International is the leading movement devoted to making effective oral communication a worldwide reality. Through its member Clubs, Toastmasters International helps men and women learn the arts of speaking, listening and thinking – vital skills that promote self-actualization, enhance leadership potential, foster human understanding, and contribute to the betterment of mankind.
It is basic to this mission that Toastmasters International continually expand its worldwide network of Clubs, thereby offering ever-greater numbers of people the opportunity to benefit from its programs.
There are two tracks you can follow and you are encouraged to do both as a Toastmasters member – The Communication track and the Leadership track. Upon joining Toastmasters, you will receive a welcome kit containing materials including your Competent Communicator manual containing 10 speech projects, as well as the Competent Leader manual that contains several multi-faceted projects that will help you learn better listening skills, better evaluating skills, better motivating skills, better time management skills, better planning, organizing and delegating skills, not to mention better speaking skills!
